Better Weather in Panama

One of my reasons for moving to Panama was to get away from hot Texas summers and cold Texas winters… and the high utility costs that go along with extreme weather temperatures. I live in Boquete Panama, where it is right around 75-80F (23-26C)  during the day and about 65-70 degrees at night.  I don’t even have or need an air conditioner or heater at my house.   That’s how I could go from $350 – $400 a month electric bills in Texas to $25 a month electric bills in Panama.  It’s a significant saving, but even more importantly, it is just a BETTER WAY TO LIVE!

If I get in the mood for warmer weather, I can be at a Pacific Ocean beach in about an hour, or I can drive to the Caribbean in three hours.

Because Panama is only 9 degrees from the equator, the weather is the SAME ALL YEAR.  We don’t have the hot time of year or the cold time of year in Panama.  If you live by the coast, the weather is about 90 Fahrenheit (32 Celsius) all year! For every 1000 feet increase in elevation, the temperature drops 4 degrees.  So, it’s easy for you to pick your ideal temperature based on the elevation.

Today I turned on the news and saw that much of North America is already experiencing cold, snowy weather.  Yuck!  I don’t miss that kind of weather at all.

So, for all you people who are putting up with this…

Escape the Cold Weather

I thought I would share some photos of the kind of weather you are missing in Panama right now.

It is sure to warm you up!

    Jackie,
Love seeing these wonderful pictures of Panama. Can’t wait to come this summer for three months to give it a longer try. The relocation tour last summer really helped us see how special Panama is. Thanks. Lois and Buz.

I would think your Panama Relocation Guide would be very usuful, even if one could only stay 6 months at a time. I have an overzealous police force and county, thst acually arrested me 3 yrs ago.,(Im now 66) and gave me a DV charge although I only broke a tv remote and never threatened anyone. Im a veteran, somwas allowed to serve a year’s Diversion. without any issues. and have peperwork in which it states it was dismissed…whatecer that means. Do you think I should ask a lawyers firm doen there if I submitted all my court paperwork and FBI report. that they would at least give me a percentage estimate as to whether a bueno vista Visa attempt would fly ? Ive never been in trouble my entire life prior . Thanks for all you do for everyone there! Ive read and watched videos for the past year or so.

    • Jackie Lange says

Donald, it would be best to get a copy of your FBI report to see exactly what’s on it, then contact a Panama immigration attorney.

    Hi, Jackie:
    I have two questions:
The first question is about the banking system in Panama. Are any of the banks regulated or Does Panama have a centralized banking system?

The second question: Do you have any recommendations on moving companies? I am not planning to move all my furniture, but I do have some selected furniture that I don’t want to depart from.

Thank you, for all that you do to help relocate families to Panama.
    Ursula

    • Jackie Lange says

the questions are not related to the “Better Weather” article, but here goes
Panama’s banking systems are heavily regulated.
There is no Central Bank. Panam uses the US dollar and has for 100+ years
We have recommendations for moving companies, immigration lawyers, honest real estate agents, where to guy health insurance for 40% less, pet relocation, car brokers, car insurance, etc etc and much much more .. in our
