Living in Chiriqui Province is like living in paradise. I personally think it is the most beautiful area in all of Panama (if not the world) because of the lush green vegetation and year-round flowers. Plus in Boquete or Volcan you experience spring-like weather every day. Chiriqui Province is on the far western side of Panama, next to the Costa Rica border. It includes Boquete, Volcan, and David, with many smaller cities too.
Previously, it has been a challenge to get to Chiriqui Province. If you flew into Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, you’d have to take a $25 taxi ride to the regional airport near Albrook Mall to fly 40 minutes to David. It was a one hour trip from Tocumen to Albrook. Because Air Panama had a captive audience, it was expensive too.
Or, if I want to fly to the United States, South America, or Europe, I had to take an Air Panama flight from David to Albrook, then pay $25 for a taxi to Tocumen to get to my final destination.
ALL THAT WILL CHANGE IN JANUARY…
THE NEW YEAR will open the world to Chiriqui province as Copa Airlines starts twice daily flights from Tocumen in Panama City to Enrique Malek International Airport in David.
The new service will start on January 15 and connect David with 30 countries and 69 international destinations.
The round trip fare is $166, while the other airline that travels from Panama City to David, Air Panama tickets at $200.
“All rates have already been accepted. The most accessible is $75, plus tax on the transfer of movable goods and providing services (ITBMS) and airport tax remains at $83 per day, meaning it is $166 roundtrip, “said Copa director Pedro Heilbron, at a Saturday, November 29 press conference.
“We want the Chiricanos and foreigners living in this region to have full connectivity with all 69 destinations of Copa Airlines, so we think it’s an important day,” he said.
He explained that the Embraer 190 aircraft provides, 10 seats in business class and 84 in the main cabin.
President Juan Carlos Varela, said that the entry of the airline to Chiriqui is a further boost for its tourism and economic development.
Recognizing that tourism is the mainstay of the region’s economy Varela said that a $1 million advertising boost to its tourist attractions has started.
The twice daily flights from David directly to Tocumen will make access to Chiriqui Province much more accessible. Plus, if you have a Panama residency Visa and you are a woman age 55 or a man age 60, you get a 25% discount on your flights.
Living in Panama just got easier.

Sehr interessant. Gut zu wissen, dass man inskuenftig schneller von Panama6 nach David kommt. Macht weiter so. Ich plane nach Panama auszuwandern. Besten Dank und sonnige Grusse aus der Costa Blanca. Meinolf
