IF YOU PLAN TO SPEND EXTRA TIME IN BOQUETE, THESE ARE THINGS TO DO..
We can arrange for all kinds of tours in and around Boquete. Coffee tours, white water rafting, zip line, hiking, whale watching, horse back riding, and more. I would not advise hiking in the mountains on your own.
You can go to the top of Volcan Baru, the tallest point in Panama at 11,830′, by hiking or a jeep. The Jeep leaves at 3am so you are at the top of Baru at sunrise. You can see both the Pacific and Atlantic ocean in the morning.
This video is my son and his girlfriend on a whale watching and island tour off the Boca Chica coast which is about 1 1/2 hours from Boquete
FOUR BEACH AREAS CLOSE TO BOQUETE – All 1 to 2 hour drive
Las Lajas – This is my favorite beach in Panama. Longest beach in all the Americas with gentle waves. We sometimes go here during the tour. It is about 1 1/2 hours from Boquete. It’s $10 for a day pass. There is a restaurant there with GREAT fish tacos and pina coladas. We can get you a discount at hotels in the area. Prices vary depending on the season. Super relaxing!
Boca Chica – There is not much of a beach but the views of the Pacific Ocean are beautiful. There are two hotels in the area both on the pricey side.
Las Olas – This is the closest beach to Boquete and only 35 minutes to David and the International Airport. There is a hotel, condos and single family homes. Condos are bigger than Coronado and 50% cheaper. The hotel has a pool, restaurant plus all hotel rooms face the Pacific Ocean. Room rates are about $50 a night. We can book this for you.
Puerto Armuelles – This is the most affordable beach town in all of Panama. The town has a population of about 25,000 people There are grocery stores, hospitals, restaurants and miles and miles of beautiful beaches. This is a true Pamanian style town with not many expats. If you’d like a tour of the town, I can contact friends in the area to show you around. Some of the best fishing in Panama is in this area too.
You can rent a car to get to these beach areas or hire a drive to take you there. The cost to hire a driver will be approximately $60 – $100 each way (price is subject to change). For car rentals, our tour group gets special rates of $30-$35 per day for a sedan ( prices subject to change). This price includes taxes and insurance.
