5 Things to Consider Before Moving to Panama

5 Things to Consider Before Moving to Panama

Listen to the reply of our first conference call in 2021.  I discussed five important things you need to take into consideration before planning a move to Panama.  And, I made an announcement about our NEW all-inclusive Private Tour option.  The last 30-minutes were reserved for Q & A time!

Of course, before you can even come to visit Panama, you need to get a passport so that needs to be at the top of your list.  The other five things you need to consider are:

move to panama1.  RESEARCH if Panama will be a good fit for you.  Our Online Panama Relocation Guide has the information to help you do research.  You’ll want to determine if Panama has a Visa that will work for you.  Does Panama have the kind of weather you like and if there is a place to live in Panama that fits your budget.

2.  BUDGET – Determine how much money you will have to live on when you move to Panama.  If you’re retired, will your pension be enough to qualify for a Visa?  Once again, our Online Panama Relocation Guide has information to help you determine your budget and which places in Panama will be a good fit for your budget.   There are upfront costs involved when you move to Panama so you need to determine if you will be able to afford to get a Visa, rental first money rent and a deposit,  will you buy a car, do you need to bring pets.  and perhaps get health insurance in Panama.

3. FAMILY – will you be able to live away from your family for extended periods of time or will you need to go back “home” often to see children, parents, or grandchildren.  or, perhaps your family will come visit you in Panama.  If you plan to go visit them, be sure to budget for additional airfare.

4.  HEALTH – if you have pre-existing conditions, you need to determine if you can get the medications you need and the health care you need in Panama.  Our Online Panama Relocation Guide has two pharmacies who will let you know if your medications are available and what the costs will be.   If your medications are not available, you’ll need to make arrangements to get them shipped to Panama so include that cost in your budget.  You will probably not be able to get health insurance in Panama if you have pre-existing conditions.  But you can use public or private health care systems but you’ll have to pay out of pocket.

5. ATTITUDE – Panama is different.  If you can easily adapt to a new culture and a new way of doing things, you’ll fit right in. But if you want everything to be like the USA, Canada or Europe but more affordable in Panama, you will be disappointed and may have a hard time adjusting.

LISTEN to the replay of the conference call for more details.   I also made a big announcement about our new “All-Inclusive Private Tours”

Last Updated on September 10, 2020 - by Jackie Lange

Replay: Q and A Call September 5th

boquete panama cloudsOn Saturday, September 5th we hosted our weekly conference call about moving to and living in Panama.   Because of the pandemic, Panama’s borders have been closed since March so we have not been able to do any Panama Relocation Tours.  We know you are anxious to come check out Panama so we have been hosting these weekly conference calls to answer your questions or interview people who live in Panama.

There were several important announcements at the beginning of the September 5th conference call.  And there were a lot of great questions during the call too.   Unfortunately, about one hour in to the call, my power went out for about 2 minutes so the call dropped and I was not able to get back in to the call.

When the call dropped, there were still so many people in line to ask a question so I will do another Q & A Call this Saturday, September 12th.

TIME:  5pm Central (6pm Eastern, 4pm Mountain, 3pm Pacific)
CALL:  1-712-770-4160
ACCESS CODE:  120440#

panama mask requirementsPanama’s borders are scheduled to open October 12th.  To come in to Panama, you will need to present a Covid test that is not more than 96 hours old when you arrive.  After October 12th, no quarantine is required.

But you need to be aware that everything in Panama is not open yet. And you will be required to wear a mask everywhere in public including going in to stores.

Once things open up more we will be able to start doing Panama Relocation Tours.

Panama Update and Replay House Sitting Call

Panama Update and Replay House Sitting Call

pearl islands panamaSince the pandemic began in March, Panama Relocation Tours has been hosting a weekly conference call to interview people who live in Panama or a call to answer your questions.   We know you’re anxious to come check out Panama or ready to relocate to Panama so we hope these calls are keeping you informed about what life is like in Panama.

On August 29th, I interviewed Laura who came on a Panama Relocation Tour then relocated from Hong Kong to Panama.  She arrived just a few weeks before Panama closed down their borders and shut off transportation between provinces.  She stayed in El Valle de Anton for a few months before starting a house-sitting  gig in the Pearl Islands.   Listen to the replay to learn about her experiences in both places and her advice for anyone considering doing house sitting.

PANAMA UPDATE

We’ve been offering 6-day 7-night all-inclusive Panama Relocation Tours since 2010 and have completed 122 relocation tours. We’ve helped more than 1200 people relocate to Panama.  No one has as much experience helping people relocate to Panama.  We have the experience you can trust and need when making the life-changing decision to relocate to Panama.   Don’t settle for less!  We have hundreds of 5-star rave reviews on our website, Facebook, youtube, and TripAdvisor.

Because our tours are so popular, they are sold out through the end of 2021 but we may be able to add additional spots on tours and add new tour dates once we know for sure when we can start doing tours again.

panama mask requirementsPanama is opening its borders to international travelers on October 12th.    We would love to start doing tours at the end of October but we don’t know what the requirements will be for people coming into Panama.  If they only require a Covid test we can start doing tours at the end of October.  But if they require a 14-day quarantine we will not be able to start doing tours yet.  As soon as we know the details we will let you know.

As far as we know, even after October 12th, Panama will still require that you wear a mask when you are in public and going into stores.

THREE SOLUTIONS TO HELP YOU MOVE TO PANAMA FASTER!!

If you’re in a hurry to relocate to Panama and can’t wait for an opening for a Panama Relocation Tour, here are three ideal solutions:

Panama Relocation GuideONLINE PANAMA RELOCATION GUIDE!   We also offer an Online Panama Relocation Guide.  It has the same information that you’d get on a Panama Relocation Tour including our rolodex of reliable and affordable immigration lawyers, honest real estate agents/property managers, where to buy health insurance for 40% less, how to find the best place to live, getting pets into Panama and much more.   You also get access to our private community forum and our private phone numbers so you have someone readily available to answer your questions and offer help when you need it.

On Friday, the Online Panama Relocation Guide will also include information on how to do a self-guided tour in Panama.  Because of the pandemic, we realize that you may not want to get on a big bus with 15 other people so the self-guided tour is ideal.  You’ll learn where to stay, who to contact to show you rentals, get a list of places to visit, and more.

PRIVATE TOURS!  After October 12th, if there is no 14-day quarantine required, we will offer private tours for specific towns, provinces, or all over Panama.  The private tours will be limited to not more than 3 people in a luxury sedan.   Details about private tours will be released next week.

We here to help!
