On this Thanksgiving Day, I give thanks for the opportunity to live in beautiful Panama.
We hope your family has a blessed Thanksgiving.
It’s that time of year when we like to find ways to give back to our community. Between now and the end of November, a percentage of all sales will be donated to two non-profit charities in Chiriqui Province.
The first all-volunteer charity is Buenos Vecinos de Boquete (Good Neighbors of Boquete) is a small all-volunteer group that provides non-perishable food every month to about one hundred individuals and families in the greater Boquete area. The majority of these recipients are single moms, elderly without family support, handicapped individuals, or families struggling to support a handicapped family member. They represent some of the most vulnerable members of our community.. especially during the pandemic.
The second all-volunteer – basically a one-woman show – is Kirsten Cares for Cats. Kirsten has made it her mission to capture feral cats then get them sterilized to control the population. She also has feeding stations in places she feeds almost 200 cats. Kirsten created a safe place for blind cats to live so they can have a better life. Every month, usually at her own expense, she purchases 25 x-large bags of cat food to be distributed to stray cats. See Kirsten’s video below to learn more about what she does.
