Currently, the borders of Panama are closed because of the Covid-19 virus. No flights can come in and no flights can leave Panama.
Every day we get calls and emails from people are are anxious to relocate to Panama as soon as the borders open again.
But it’s a big mistake to just move to Panama without a really good education about what to do before and after you arrive. Living in Panama is not like living anywhere else. You can’t just move to Panama … you must get a residency Visa if you want to stay. If you don’t have a Visa, you can only stay 6 months max.
The majority of people I know who move away from Panama do so because they were not prepared about what to expect or educated about how to get things done. It’s a costly mistake that does not need to happen to you!
Some people have lost tens of thousands of dollars because they rushed in to buying real estate too soon, paid too much, then could not sell it for what they paid when they moved away. One couple lost $100,000 because they trusted the wrong real estate agent.
Some have lost tens of thousands of dollars because they picked the wrong immigration attorney. I know one guy who paid $15,000 for a Friendly Nations Visa which should have cost $3000.
Some people have lost everything they owned because they picked the wrong international mover who stole everything. A guy I know shipped two 40-foot containers but only one container arrived.
Some people have paid twice as much for international health insurance because they did not know our “tricks” for getting the same insurance for much less. This information alone can save you thousands of dollars.

Bob and Shelly came in a Panama Relocation Tour in March 2020. They planned to spend several weeks in Panama after the Tour to do some exploring on their own BUT all the sudden the Covid-19 pandemic broke out world wide and Panama announced they would be closing their borders to flights coming in and flights going out of Panama. Bob and Shelly had to make a decision to cut their trip short and fly back to the US or stay in Panama. They decided to stay in Panama thinking they would be able to continue their exploration.
But shortly after closing their borders Panama announced that they wanted to keep everyone in the Province where they were to avoid the spread of the nasty virus. So, Bob and Shelly got stuck in Pedasi. Pedasi is a small town in the southern Azuero Peninsula. It has a population of about 2000 people. And it’s about 10-15 minutes from the town of Pedasi to a beach.
Listen to the replay of their conference call to learn about
* finding a rental
* what the people in Pedasi are like
* availability of groceries
* much more
Because Bob and Shelly don’t have internet access at their rental, they had some problems getting on the call in the beginning so I did some Q & A while we waited for them to get connected.
Enjoy the replay!
Listen to the replay of the conference call with Gwen, a single lady who lives in Las Tablas Panama. Las Tablas is a town of about 15,000 people in the Azuero Peninsula. It has all the amenities you would ever need and it’s only about 10 minutes to a nice beach. Gwen retired early to get away from the cold weather in Canada. During this call, you’ll learn:
* Why she moved to Panama
* Her experiences with the health care in Panama
* What her living expenses are like
* What’s the weather like in Las Tablas
* Why she lives closer to town versus the nearby beach
* What she misses about living in Canada
* What frustrates her about living in Panama
* and much more.
Las Tablas is one one of the safest and most affordable towns in Panama. During a Panama Relocation Tour, we’ve visited nice one bedroom furnished apartments for as little as $350 with all utilities included in Las Tablas. And we’ve seen really nice, North American style, two bedroom two bath fully furnished house will rent for $600 a month. Las Tablas is the cultural center for Panama with many national festivals there every year.
Note, at the beginning of the call I just did some Q & A time while Gwen was resolving some technical difficulties to get on the call.
