Panama Rentals

We encourage you to rent for at least 6-12 months before considering buying real estate. A year gives you time to obtain your visa and determine if you like the area and what market prices are like.

During a Panama Relocation Tour®, we show 1-2 rentals each day and you get to see the neighborhoods, amenities, and towns nearby. We discuss the pros and cons of each area we visit during the Tour. Plus, you get to meet expats who live in each area we visit. When you go on a Private Tour, your guide can arrange for you to see rentals.

The Online Panama Relocation Guide has a list of honest real estate agents and property managers who can help you find your new home in Panama.

Are you thinking about moving to Panama? Check out our quick guide to living in Panama, learn more about our relocation tours, and consider purchasing our Complete Panama Relocation Guide.

The guide is available online and includes all of the same information we share during our tours about how to make a smooth move to Panama. It even includes all of our trusted contacts for immigration, real estate, insurance, and more.

It also has suggested self-guided tour itineraries as well as contact information for private tour guides in each of the cities we recommend. With this information, you could either explore Panama on your own or hire a local to show you around.

BEWARE of these three problems:

(1) Some real estate agents do NET listings, which means the owner wants $600 a month rent, and the real estate agent will advertise the rental at $900, hoping to put $300 a month profit in their pocket. Some agents employ similar tactics in real estate sales. During our tour, we will introduce you to trustworthy real estate agents and property managers who do not engage in net listings. Learn more about Net Listings Here.

(2) Some social media forums are frequented by scam artists who will try to get you to send them a deposit via PayPal to hold a property for you – a property that does not exist. In the Online Panama Relocation Guide, you will meet trustworthy property managers who can help you find a rental at a competitive price.

(3) A lot of foreigners (non-Panamanians) are trying to get into selling and renting real estate to make some extra money. Many of them do NOT have a work permit, so they cannot legally work in Panama. If they are renting or selling the house they actually own, they do not need a work permit. If an ex-pat is offering to rent or sell a home to you that they do not own, ask to see their work permit. You have absolutely no recourse if there is a problem with someone who rents or sells a property without a work permit. Buyer/Renter beware!
