Affordable MiniMed Has No Pre-Existing Exclusions

One of the biggest challenges for foreigners moving to Panama is getting health insurance.

Panamanian health insurance is available but requires you to be fully vaccinated for Covid and excludes pre-existing conditions for at least two years, or in some cases, pre-existing conditions like diabetes will prevent you from being able to get insurance.

Most Panama health insurance also has age restrictions. For most policies, you cannot be older than 75 when applying for insurance. There are a few exceptions.

International health insurance is available but also has restrictions on pre-existing conditions and a limit on the age for a new policy. It’s also very expensive!

So, what’s the solution?

There are four solutions, which I talked about during a recent livestream.

  1. You can pay out of pocket for medical care.
  2. You can use the public healthcare system in Panama.
  3. Medicare Advantage or Travel Insurance for Medical Emergencies.
  4. MiniMed Health Membership

Minimed has no pre-existing condition restrictions. They have no age restrictions.

Minimed offers a health membership, like insurance, that is only $20 a month or $220 a year for one person. If you’re married, add $10 a month or $110 annually for your spouse. Watch the replay of the livestream about MiniMed and other health insurance options:

MiniMed welcomes veterans and offers direct billing (no prepay) for FMP, Tricare, and ChampVA and medications. It’s much faster to get access to doctors and specialists at MiniMed than at a large public hospital.

MiniMed is the largest private health network in Panama. They serve more than 45,000 users each month across our service network. Their operational capacity allows them to proactively respond to our patients’ needs, optimizing resources and expanding services based on demand.

MiniMed has a network of primary care partners with nationwide coverage. From Darien to Bocas del Toro, we offer general medicine, specialty care, and laboratory services, ensuring our patients have access to quality healthcare regardless of their
location.

MiniMed’s portfolio is strengthened with home care, digital medical records, digital diagnostic results, and telemedicine, enabling faster and more secure
access to healthcare services.

MiniMed also offers member discounts on dental and other services! Only $30 to get your teeth cleaned and an x-ray!

If you have pre-existing conditions, consider a MiniMed Membership to access affordable, quality healthcare.

IMPORTANT: MiniMed covers doctor visits, labwork, x-rays, and specialists, but it does not cover medical emergencies like strokes or heart attacks. We recommend using Medicare Advantage, if you qualify, for medical emergencies in Panama. Or, if you don’t qualify for Medicare Advantage, get a travel insurance that includes pre-existing conditions. The Online Panama Relocation Guide has recommendations for:

1. Medicare Advantage Agents who specialize in working with expats in Panama.
2. Affordable Travel Insurnace that’s available even if you have pre-existing conditions and you can buy a one year policy that covers you for medical emergencies in Panama.

Panama Relocation Tours is dedicated to helping you have a smooth move to Panama and we’re always looking for solutions, like MiniMed, so you can LIVE BETTER for LESS in Panama!
