Las Lajas Beach in Panama

My favorite beach in Panama is Las Lajas beach in Chiriqui Province. It’s about 1 1/2 hours east of David. It’s a long beach with calm waters and oh so relaxing!

Watch our new video of Rick talking about building a house and living at Las Lajas Beach.

The actual town of Las Lajas is about 5km away from the beach. The town has two grocery stores and several restaurants.

Las Lajas Beach Resort (also shown in the video) is a popular place to stay for a day or a week when you’re visiting Las Lajas beach.

Furnished rentals range from $500 to $1500 per month in the Las Lajas area.

Large oceanfront lots can be bought for as little as $40,000 at Las Lajas.

    Hi Jackie,

Thank you so much for these wonderful and informative videos!
I have a couple of questions that were not addressed.

Can you provide a range for cost per sq ft/meter for building a home like Ricks on Las Lajas beach including appliances, pool, and furniture?

Also, he doesn’t seem to be bothered by any bugs during the video. How is the insect/mosquito situation in Las Lajas (especially on the beach)?

I’m still trying to determine the dates and locations I want to secure private tours.

    Sincerely,

    Mark

Bugs are less of a problem on the Pacific side of Panama. I’ll have to ask Rick about building costs for the house. The building costs would never include light fixtures or appliances. What Rick paid 5-6 years ago may not apply today.

        Hi there,

I apologise if this follow-up question may seem very late, but I was wondering if you could possibly expand on the bug situation in Las Lajas? I am planning on buying several acres of land quite far away from the actual beach, and so I was wondering whether mosquitoes/ants/cockroaches would be a nuisance.

        Thank you!

John, yes bugs are a problem in the tropics. We did a recent livestream with a couple about emergency medical care in Las Tablas. The woman got stung by a dangerous ant which caused severe paid.
in warmer weather areas, like Las Tablas, CHITRA’s are also a problem. Mosquitos bites can cause dengue.
